American environmental groups have escalated a lawsuit against the US government which aims to prevent it funding two "deadly" gas facilities beside the Great Barrier Reef.

The three groups have filed a challenge to the funding of a second facility, which is being backed by the US Export-Import Bank, to add to an original lawsuit that was launched in December last year. Read more

THE discovery of another species of rare frogs forced changes to the design of a Gold Coast light rail bridge, it can be revealed.

The green-thighed frog is the second rare amphibian found on the tram route after a colony of tusked frogs were discovered in Surfers Paradise and had to be relocated to Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary. Read more

An environmental leap of faith has paid off for one of Australia’s rarest frogs, thanks to researchers at James Cook University in Cairns.

In early September, a team led by James Cook University doctors, Conrad Hoskin and Robert Puschendorf, performed the first successful frog translocation in Queensland’s history, giving the Armoured Mistfrog (Litoria lorica), pictured, a second chance at survival. Read more
